Juliet works nationally as a trainer, consultant and author and runs highly successful courses for language teachers.  If you are interested in any training, either on one of our training days or in a bespoke course for your department/consortium of schools, please get in touch and we’ll send you details.  Delegates learn a whole host of techniques and strategies and are given a wide variety of materials to try out the next day!

Examples of courses include:

KS3 – Innovative and creative ways of delivering the KS3 curriculum.  The revised curriculum and revised KS3 framework offers fantastic opportunties for introducing exciting and inspiring activities into the classroom.  This workshop will focus on how to deliver interesting, cross curricular themes and ideas but at the same time ensure linguistic progression so that pupils are better prepared for the demands of the new GCSE.
KS4 – the new GCSE has brought with it more freedom and choice for both teachers and pupils but also the need for more student independence in the controlled assessments.  This session will demonstrate techniques for developing student autonomuy, performance and confidence at GCSE level.  Reference will be made to all the skills but with a particular focus on speaking and writing and how to add a bit of ‘zing’ to your lessons through the introduction of engaging themes and activities.
NVQ – the NVQ is the fastest growing alternative qualification to the GCSE and is proving to have a massive impact on uptake, attainment, behaviour and motivation.  This session will demonstrate why it is a popular option amongst both teachers and pupils, what steps are required to introduce the pathway and how business languages can be made fun, exciting and accessible to teenagers.

Ofsted preparation - This session will take a close look at what an Ofsted inspector is looking for in an Outstanding MFL lesson.  Reading, writing, speaking and listening are all important language skills for ensuring effective communication in a foreign language. This session will take a closer look at strategies for developing each skill such as speed reading, correction coding, language analysis and how to boost literacy and numeracy skills amongst your MFL learners – a key feature for Ofsted.
